If your personal finance software is tax software, it definitely needs to be updated periodically. The more frequent the updates, the better the software. There are always different tax regulations coming into effect. So, it stands to reason that tax software would need to be updated in order to comply with current tax rules and pertinent information concerning taxes. If you choose the proper personal finance software package, it will always prompt you to download any current updates on your tax software. Most importantly and pleasingly, it will not allow you to e-file an incomplete tax return or one that does not conform to the current tax laws. It will basically force you to update—which is a good thing.
