Natural and Urban Environments

Part of beach hammock, that trend toward the building of alternative as opposed to adaptive structures is isolated from the realities of the constantly changing natural or urban environment. But the trend has serious implications. As mere observers, rather than participants, we lose the opportunity to experience, and hence to understand and appreciate the complexity and diversity of the life around us by avoiding active participation, we are inclined to increasingly treat the environment and our cities in far too cavalier a fashion.
