Natural and Urban Environments

But the trend has serious implications. As mere observers, rather than participants, we lose the opportunity to experience, and hence to understand and appreciate the complexity and diversity of the life around us by avoiding active participation, we are inclined to increasingly treat the environment and our cities in far too cavalier a fashion.
